Goat Kid Management Webinar Series February 2021

Join us in February for a webinar series focused on goat kid management. Topics of focus for this webinar series includes management considerations for kidding and kid management. The webinars will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm on February 16, 18, 23, 25, 2021. This series is being hosted online and over the teleconference.

Schedule of webinars

  • February 16 – Successful Doe Transition with Dr. Robert Van Saun (Pennsylvania State University). This webinar will cover pre-partum nutrition for dairy does and considerations for diet formulations.
  • February 18 – Caring for Goat Kids in the First 48 Hours with Dr. Cathy Bauman (University of Guelph) and Marlene Paibomesai (OMAFRA). This webinar will cover management in the first 48 hours and feeding colostrum.
  • February 23 – Pain Management and Housing Considerations with Dr. Cathy Bauman (University of Guelph), Dr. Jocelyn Jansen (OMAFRA), and John Van de Vegte (OMAFRA). this webinar will cover pain management for goats followed by a presentation on ventilation in goat kid nurseries.
  • February 25 – Feeding and Weaning of Goat Kids with Brittany Todd (Grober Nutrition) and Dr. Gosia Zobel (AgResearch NZ). This webinar will cover considerations for transitioning goat kids from colostrum to milk or milk replacer and steps to weaning. This webinar also covers growth targets for goat kids and kid behaviour at weaning.

The first presentation starts at 10:00am, followed by a 5 minute break and the second presentation starts at 11:00am. You can attend one or all four webinars. A certificate of participation will be provided.
